Is your Mac acting up like this – taking a long time to start-up, execute commands, delayed typing input, showing the wrong screen resolution, time zone issues, or audio problems—resetting the PRAM (Parameter RAM) can help. Here’s how to do it:

  1. Shut down your Mac.

  2. Turn it back on and immediately plus simultaneously press and hold: Option + Command + P + R.

  3. Keep holding the keys for about 20 seconds, then release.

    • On older Macs, you may hear the startup chime twice.

    • On newer Macs, the Apple logo may appear and disappear twice.

Your PRAM is now reset. You might need to reconfigure certain system settings afterward.
